Ugh! so 30 days into a 6-month contract role they just abruptly ended the contract out of nowhere saying “company needs have changed” and im back job hunting (again). This is the worst. I had just gotten the kids back in childcare, now have to pull out again. And no unemployment, no severance. How do they not have to at least follow through with the contract terms they were soooo quick to make me agree to?? 😑

Those of you that have left retail, what would it take for you to go back? I’m hearing about 50k sign on bonuses at the corner locally (up from 20/25k in February). I’ve been unemployed/underemployed for over a year and am still holding out for anything else.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Should I be reaching out to recruiters and hiring managers after applying to jobs? I've mostly been applying through LinkedIn, so finding the right person isn't hard. I'm just afraid of coming across as obnoxious!
