Using recruiter to search for candidates that want to relocate to Tennessee. LinkedIn is showing me a lot of candidates from Washington, and they don't want to move to Tennessee. Does anyone else have this problem? I call it the Tennessee bug. When I say a lot, I'm talking 50% of the candidates.

With respect.

Who would live in TN willingly?

likefunny

I would! Very low cost of living, affordable housing outside of cities,no state income tax, pensions are not taxed, registration of my new car cost me $35.00, property tax is very low, need I go on? If you want nightlife, go to Nashville or Memphis for blues. Knoxville has the college and nightlife as well. There are mountains, snow, to die for scenery. Lots to do yet still close enough to the ocean to hit the beach.

Honestly, given that over 60% of vets in the USA are women, and that Tennessee has taken steps to limit women’s reproductive care, this should hardly be surprising.

You can't drill down to people who only want to relocate to one state. You can only find people who are willing to relocate.

I live in Washington and I can’t imagine ever wanting to move back to Tennessee…a state that doesn’t believe that AFAB people have a right to control what is in their uteruses and believes that the LGBTQIA+ community shouldn’t have as many basic human and civil rights as cis-gender, straight people do.

I’d give up on trying to fill that job if I were you. Intelligent people don’t want to move somewhere that doesn’t value ALL residents of their state.

I've been successful in life because I have failed so often. I won't give up until it's filled with the right person.

You are looking at it wrong, check with Auburn University Vet School, heck University of Tennessee has a marvelous College of Veterinary Medicine. Why are you looking at Washington?

I'm not looking at Washington 😆. LinkedIn has a bug, and it shows the wrong people. I've been working with their engineering department sending videos and HAR files trying to help them help me. It's been a couple of months now, and I just sent them another update yesterday. This is causing me countless hours of extra work filtering through candidates. Initially, LinkedIn told me I was wrong and that they show candidates within 100 miles of TN. I told them they must also believe the earth is flat if they think Washington is within 100 miles of TN. Eventually, they admitted there is something wrong but won't elaborate atm.

Lol. I offered to join them and help out. The customer service response team is a problem atm. We'll see if their engineers are inept as well. I'm giving them another week or so before I go above their heads.

You can...if I select Alabama or Mississippi or other, it only shows candidates that want to relocate to those states. When I select TN, it shows me TN and Washington. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At what point are you too specialized to lateral to internal audit? (PA, consulting, or industry roles) Currently have 2 years of external audit experience and 2 years of forensics: I always thought of internal audit as a decent exit but I’m beginning to get worried about getting too specialized to make that move one day

Does anyone else feel that the more content someone puts in their LinkedIn headline, the more full of it they are? I say this as someone with a bunch of stuff lol but at least it’s all at one company and accurate.

I’m talking mostly about two kinds of people. 1. The influencer who is actually unemployed, but lists 25 BS things they do
2. The brand collector, who writes “ex-“ for every former company they worked at and school they went to. Maybe less full of it but still insufferable.

There really is such a direct correlation between cringey title and cringey posts.

Before LinkedIn...to me, the king of professional cringey was Shingy. Do you guys remember him? He was aol's overpaid "digital prophet" and got paid to visit companies at lunchtime and babble the same kind of nonsense we now call "LinkedIn cringe".

This one is going to make some of y’all mad, but it’s so annoyingly unnecessary. The most irritating part is “is it a shirt day or a skirt day”…. Like women don’t wear shirts with skirts and men don’t wear shirts with pants. Shirts and skirts are not mutually exclusive. I’ll just leave this here.
