Are you getting unemployment? You may want to look into other social programs to help keep food on the table / the lights on if times are dire. You also may be able to pull money from your 401k as a hardship exemption.
That being said, don’t be afraid to be vocal with your network. Every time I posted on LinkedIn, I got 1 or 2 leads. Try to network and get referred. But also don’t let the job search ruin your life. Cap your time you spend applying to jobs, be sure to spend some time outside or away from a screen so you don’t drive yourself crazy.
I’ve seen a lot of people gain traction in the last 6 to 8 weeks, especially compared to Q1 this year. Keep at it!
I am getting unemployment but it’s not at all comparable to my regular checks. I was able to do a deferment for my student loans at least. I’m looking into those programs for sure!! Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it

With you. So with you it hursts.
I hope things get better for the both of us very soon 🤍
That feeling can be crushing, especially if the people from your previous job who relied on you are nowhere to be found in your time of need. It'll continue to frustrate, but please continue to put in all this effort even when it feels like it goes nowhere, since eventually it will go somewhere.
- Reach out to people you've known that have been laid off and might have good tips. Talk to friends who you might not think might have leads, but you never know who they have connections with.
- Be on job boards multiple times per day and set alerts.
- Go to networking events or (if affordable) any conferences that might align with your experience in order to network.
- Recruiters are hit or miss, but there are good ones out there.
- Are there any people who you can go to that will be willing to write you recommendations on your LinkedIn profile? People will get alerts that they recommended you and might be a good way to leverage their own networks of colleagues who hold them in high esteem.
Do you have the ability to get your name out there by developing any content to get more visibility? Articles, blogs, etc.? Or even something you don't publish online, but can send to possible employers or networking contacts? Visibility is equity and if you're able to get content out there that doesn't feel like noise, it might help with the pipeline.
This is real great advice. Thank you so much for sharing!! I’ll be sure to work on those recos and networking events. I’ll play around with the blog idea too!! 🤍
Keep your head up. Start reconnecting with former colleagues. You got this!
Thank you! That means a lot. I’ve been working on how I should highlight my skills even more!
I’m in the same boat. Literally the same boat as you. I’m hoping we both get through this and can move on to the next job because not being able to pay off the bills is a major fear of mine.
