Very subjective question: how difficult is it to lateral back into Florida’s market? FL barred but am currently in an out of state major market because it was the best offer I got out of school. Contemplating a lateral move back to FL but would like to set my expectations

I did it after 4 years. If you have a strong litigation background, it is easy to get into litigation positions (even if a different area of law).

I second this.

I’ve done it, albeit a few years ago, and found it to be pretty easy. DM me if you have Q’s.

I think transactional would be way easier to pitch in a return to FL. That may change soon (and it feels like there have been more lit openings recently), but the market is considerably better for corporate and real estate folks. I know of several firms desperate for RE associates in FL. What market are you looking in, OP? And what practice area? Happy to chat about Florida if you want to DM. I’ve worked in several of the FL markets and know of several firms looking right now, including my firm.

I got barred in FL and practiced for a couple years before moving out of state and getting my bar card in another state. After 4 years of practicing out of state I found it very easy to find a job in Florida.

Hello, I am in USI GES tax at DUSI. I love my job but not my team and mgmt anymore. I'm a performer and I'm dumped with work of 2 ppl while others are searching for work. I am burned out.

I resigned and accepted a job with EY GDS with a huge pay bump that DUSI can't match but I also gave up my potential promotion for 2023.

I've been feeling bad about putting my papers down and letting go off my promotion but I am really tired. I took up this job as an escape.

Been working on mostly (about 70%) public sector policy and strategy at Big 4 for most of my career. Often go up against MBB on RFPs and have a decent win rate. Would I be too senior to come in as a lateral hire? I guess it’s all about client networks at this level, and being government, it’s locationally dependent - so which markets have need?

I am defending an eviction for a client who has given possession of the property (as of Nov. 30). Plaintiff’s complaint has one claim – possession. They did request relief for attorney’s fees. NJT/Final Hearing commenced 10/27, was only 30 min and was therefore continued to 12/20. Plaintiff had counsel at that time but they are no longer represented.  I want to file something notifying Court that Plaintiff claim is now moot, making sure that judgment is not entered that hurts (cont'd)..
