Cissp gets you past a lot of automated resume reviews.
No it's a dumb cert, and I have it. The industry needs to realize the CISSP isn't the gold standard, it's the minimum baseline necessary to be considered a security professional.
It’s a great cert but don’t assume you’re passing until you’ve passed lol it’s a tough exam and very unpredictable
I passed!!!!
Absolutely for me. I was lucky enough to get a entry level cyber position at a company I was working at on help desk, but was making no money. Once I was able to get CISSP, opened up so many opportunities for other jobs and more money.
It was because firm lis for Boot Camp. I think it’s one of those things that most clients recognize but in the end don’t care that much. Nowadays CISSP is more a generalist than specialized (which is not a bad thing just to be clear)
If someone else is paying, absolutely. It is one of the certs that meets the requirements for DoD 8570 cert baseline, and other federal agencies use that guidance also. Meaning, if you have it, you are are marketable to any organization (private or public sector) that does work with the gov’t.
Congrats on passing! I’m trying to coast as far as possible without getting a cert. In my anecdote, I’ve seen really dumb people have certs with no experience. I personally don’t care for them, but it’s a safety net for others that look at you.
Agree with ey1 that it’s the minimum baseline necessary to be considered an infosec “professional”, yet so many ppl refuse to sit or can’t achieve it…🧐
Depends. If you're 5-7 years out and looking to lever out of an underpaid role, absolutely.
If you're more experienced and/or paid market, I wouldn't expect much extra leverage. But you're so close you might as well get it.
Thanks y’all. Will let you know if I pass.
Don't count the pass chickens before they hatch.
For me, it was worth it because company paid and there's really not a downside beyond my time investment. Having a cert like that will never hurt you, but it may help you get a foot in the door if you ever want to leave.
