I recently got a verbal offer from KPMG strategy. Is that more prestigious than like, most other firms? Like, I know MBB is done with recruiting; I feel like below MBB for name recognition is the Big 4 and other firms aren’t as reputable. I’m trying to decide whether or not I should interview and apply to other firms or just take this one (assuming a written offer ever comes along). Also, I prioritize work culture and exit opportunities over salary, but don’t want to be paid below poverty line.

For what reason were the threats? Do you think you can be there even if you receive the same threats?
Those of us who decide to become police officers should know that we will always be exposed to threats, I would not let that be an impediment to accepting a better position.
Taking the promotion would be a great opportunity for you! It's important to remember that if someone is making threats, it's likely because they're feeling threatened themselves. Stand up for yourself and don't let them intimidate you.
No, I would not take the position. It's not worth the risk of those threats being made towards me as well. I say it's always better to be safe than sorry.
I'm sorry to say it but threats are nothing new to most officers of the law. The bigger question is 1.) whether the threats were credible, 2.) who made the threats, and most importantly 3.) why the threats were made. It could be a revenge thing, or there could be more to the situation than there appears to be at first blush. Spend some time figuring out what really happened before you make your decision
It sounds like it was probably a pretty bad situation if they were were willing to quit over it, although you shouldn't deny the possibility that they wanted out already and just seized the opportunity to look like a victim. Sounds dumb but that's a possibility, a lot of people fall into that trap. Things are rarely as simple as they look on the surface
Everyone in our line of work is at risk for threats, it's a sad reality of the job. Don't let that fear keep you from getting the job of your dreams, you were offered the promotion because you deserve it. Follow your heart
