Watching House of Lies at the end of my consulting career hits differently than the first time I watched it, 10 years ago at the start of my consulting career. It's like watching Disney movies as a kid, then rewatching them as an adult and picking up on the grown up-oriented jokes the writers slide in there.

Watching it with my spouse who works in Big Tech and rails against the corporate capitalist overloads adds another dimension, too.

Your spouse works in big tech, you work in consulting and you ‘rail against the corporate capitalist overlords?’

The lunacy and irony here is hilarious.

IMO that show cut a bit too close to the bone at times. Hilarious nonetheless.

Exactly. It's great because it's such a sharp stick in the eye. For those of us who don't take ourselves too seriously, it's fun

Your Big Tech spouse should watch Silicon Valley and see the reality of Big Head’s trajectory from low level nobody to c-level exec.

Even the old Bugs Bunny cartoons had adult oriented jokes mixed in. Perspectives change again when kids are adults too. Life is an awesome journey.

I used to be really bad about not prioritizing my prayer life. But now I pray & talk to God all the time. I’ve seen what prayer does-it can change the trajectory of your life. God tells us to make our prayers & petitions known to Him & to pray without ceasing. What happens when we pray is absolutely incredible. The Holy Spirit within us interprets our groans & our prayers to our advocate Jesus Christ who petitions God the Father on our behalf. The perfect triune God hears my prayers and yours!

We have 5 attorneys (3 partners; 2 associates). Senior associate (who is being promoted to non-equity partner) is pregnant. We don’t have any sort of maternity policy but she will have 3 weeks of PTO to cash in. How do other firms handle cost of insurance premiums while ee is out? We currently cover ee portion and she pays for 100% of dependent cost. Is it reasonable to ask her to write check back to firm for her portion of dependent premiums? Assume she is taking full 4 mos off.
