24 yo looking for advice! Within the next few years I’d like to exit to industry but also live in Korea for ~1 year. Playing around with two options:

1. Quit job, study abroad, then find an industry job

2. Secure job at an international company, quit my job, try to transfer to korea office

I’d prefer option 1 but my biggest concern is it will be more difficult to find a job while unemployed (ie after study abroad). Nervous about how 1 year unemployed will impact future job prospects...

HELP! 30+ years of teaching Sped and I’m at a loss. 6th grade student in Middle School with Doose syndrome. Prior to MS, the elementary said he never caused problems. Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Parents agreed with a behavior plan - he thinks it’s a game. Parents say he is not allowed to be this way at home.

Without warning it looks like we'll be switching from consultant teaching to inclusion...what do I need to know. I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.

High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. I can’t even decide if I should go digital or paper-based let alone make a final decision! I’ll be teaching 9-11th grade math and 11th grade science. The 11th grade classes I can very much do whatever I (or the student) want/need…there isn’t a set curriculum

How long do you spend on core subjects if not a goal on IEP? So if most goals are life skills (putting shoes on, zipping, etc.) how long would you spend on math during math hour or how much do you worry about writing activities if they can’t write etc?

I work with middle and high school students that have mild LD. Has an felt that they have to walk them through every step of every assignment?

Question about IEP goals if anyone can help. If a student has an OT goal (say being able to zip coat or put on shoes without assistance) and the IEP says person responsible is the OT, is that all on them? I understand I could also work on it too in class but when IEP comes, they are responsible for writing the IEP portion and talking about that? Same with speech and language provider?
