U can learn on the job relax
I went from audit to fig ib.. and I worked and picked it up in a couple months. Just look at the person character and willingness to learn.
sometimes bringing people from other industries can bring a new way of doing.
You never know what the candidate may have worked on. For instance, I specialize in real estate and private equity, but a big client of mine for a while was tech company. It’s worth talking about during an interview and you can ask them how they plan on filling in any knowledge gaps during an interview.
Basically, I wouldn’t count them out if they seem like strong candidates otherwise.
Thanks! Good point

If you expect your new hire to already have working knowledge of those standards then yes, you should be worried. They won't know much. If you are ok with coaching and are generally looking for someone with general accounting knowledge and common sense you might be ok
I work in real estate and handle all of the things you listed. Only thing that would be different is revenue recognition, but I feel like it would take two weeks to be just as up to speed.
