I'm a big believer in planning to work around the obvious disruptions this time of year. You really have to start looking at December's calendar back in September or October and recognize where the problems could occur. For instance, this coming week, as I saw it, was destined to be a lost cause. But with good planning you can get people onboard to finish up some things by now, or at least have logical places to pause and pick up in the new year. I think it all gets down to planning and scheduling.
My teams work their asses off all year long. They all deserve a little down time during this time of the year. I plan accordingly and try to get everything done last week and communicate that across all business lines. Of course last minute issues come up but much easier to mitigate when the big things are already done.

Be more realistic with your projects and deadlines in 2025. I quit taking on work that “has to be done by year end” after Halloween. Inevitably some deadlines will slip but I don’t want to be working this time of year either.
I do daily stand ups (virtually) this time of year. So we are all in alignment on priorities. I also ask what everyone wants to achieve by the end of the year.
No ones does any real work from about mid December to the eoy
