What are people’s thoughts on when low utilization is your problem vs the firms? I have a semi low utilization but that’s because I’m either not staffed on deals or deals are slow. Seems like the expectation is for me to reach out and ask if anyone could use help to find charge hours but let’s be honest at the end of the day I’m getting paid no matter what and doesn’t seem like finding work should be my problem. It should be on the firm to staff me not on me to find work.

If you’re not staffed, it is on you to be showing up to the office and connecting with SMs and partners to see if they need any help. If you’re hiding at home because nobody reached out to you and your utilization is low, you’ll be first to be cut for layoffs. If all of your peers have similar utilization to you, then you’re less at risk.

Not how anything works in reality in PA.

It is important to communicate your capacity to the team so they can allocate you an appropriate amount of hours.

It’s in your best interest to be proactive about staffing. At the very least, you should be working on something internal even if it isn’t billable.

like

This. Check with your team first.

If you’re unstaffed because deal flow is dead, it’s your problem but explainable and a good partner or coach will have your back. If you’re unstaffed when deal flow is hot, you should be looking for a new job

Your perspective might work in an employee's market, like back in 2021/2022, but not now when employers hold all the leverage

Is this the average mindset of juniors in FDD now? Good luck with your career mate..

Come over to our firm. We have nice 60 hour week with your name on it

I sent email to my senior manager and got response that you can use flexibility and work in any Gds office in India. However, I feel that in case my base location is not being changed, I should shift to Noida rather than Gurgaon as there might be any formalities or facilities which we need to avail in our base location only.. Any thoughts?
