Just building rapport without overdoing it. I have been in the industry for a long time and clients are more comfortable when they see you just acting normal and not so pushy with things.
The best way to build the client relationship is to ensure everyone is aligned with each shoot before moving onto the next … account needs to ensure the shoot runs on time. Production may charge overtime if it over runs on the day …
I second this! The producer will likely be the timekeeper but it's SO important to make sure your client is focusing on the screen and is approving each shot before the next setup begins. The last thing you want is a client coming back to you when the drive is delivered and saying they wanted different shots or there is a product being incorrectly displayed.
At the end of the day, clients just want quality work that they can take to their managers to show off. Whatever you can do to ensure that will keep them happy. Whether it's having them walk the set before shooting to ensure proper placement of products, or checking in with them before the setup wraps to ensure you've captured what they're looking for. Don't overdo it with the pleasantries and ass-kissing 😉
Love your answer! I’m all about results, building open dialogue/rapport is great. This has always been important to me… I still connect with previous clients about their kids, families, etc., at the end of the day the client want us to make their experience as smooth as possible when it comes to what they need.
Clients want someone and a product they can trust and as long as you have that you have them. On site clients like to feel comfortable with you so it’s always right to give them room to talk about themselves and it gives you tools to work with. For some it’s their family (especially their kids) for some it’s just noticing the slightest detail and change
