What are some ways you combat stress during your workday? I try to block off time in my calendar so that I have extra time for other tasks, especially if there is a person out on PTO.

Snacks actually help me out a lot. I notice that I'm a lot more on edge whenever I start getting hungry. Having a snack or two throughout the day helps me keep up me energy levels and focus. Otherwise my braid starts getting foggy and I slow down, which stresses me out even more.

I love snacks too!

Yea I always make sure I block time in my day to get work done so I know I've been productive by the time I'm clocking out. What stresses me out the most is feeling like I'm falling behind.

I recently got talked to by my supervisor because I manually turned on my status instead of adding it to the calendar!

That's a good idea. How much do you get done during those blocks of time? Sometimes work stress is unavoidable no matter what we do. I say face it head on. I stop whatever I'm doing and take half an hour to strategize how I'm going to handle it next. Once I have an answer, my mind doesn't need to stress over it anymore.

I sometimes get a few things done during that blocked off time. Or sometimes I use it to take a break and destress from my workload.

If I start to get stressed or feeling overwhelmed, I like to make a little list of things I need to get done. Usually it’s not that many things outside of my normal work, but for some reason it feels like a lot. Once I have my list it helps me focus better and not feel like I have a million things to get done at once.

I make a list too! I typically write out my super important tasks on the top and I make a separate list for lesser important items.

Structured approach to work using calendar for daily tasks is my approach for managing a challenging workload

Hi All, I am 11 yoe, working at a medium sized product company and I got an offer from Thoughtworks (50% hike) for a Lead Consultant role in data engineer profile.

Being a mother, I have anxiety and nervousness about joining a service based company bcoz of doubts below.
1. Job security, considering the upcoming recession is it safe to join TW at this time?
2. How good is WLB at TW for a Lead Consultant? Approx working hours on a daily basis?
3. How flexible is TW for WFH?

Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…
