What are the benefits of helping a Partner with BD a lot? Working on proposals and getting on BD calls every day for this new partner while fully staffed ... is this how you progress? Not sure how I should view this.

It also is huge opportunity to build your network as you work with other folks.
You need some bench time once in a while to reach out to folks or work on BD.
Being always staffed doesn’t always help with networking.

Depends on the P. I really appreciate the help and remember it come rem com. BD is the actual revenue generation part so adding to that is always valued. The real true benefits are when you walk a client through the door. I did several as M lining my favourite partner’s pockets (and to a lesser extent my own) and as a result moved up faster than some peers who probably worked harder.

likehelpful

Thanks P1. I can’t really bring in clients at my level yet but I will try one day ! Thanks for the helpful response

Just make sure you are exposed to 1-2 other partners and don’t put all of your relationship building into just one.

Benefits of BD is that it gives leadership a view of your performance/work, & you are often who they think about when they have staffing opportunities/sold work. Downside is if you only work with 1 person, and they don’t sell work or leave the firm, your chances of being utilized are low if no one else has worked with you or knows who you are

likehelpful

If you do good BD work, you will progress faster, generally.

like

Should give you an opportunity to engage with other senior partners as you request expertise/thought leadership around the firm. Usually easier to get time with them when it’s via bd request from your partner.

Also a good way to build new kinds of materials, understand pricing, etc.

Depends; usually no

Hi all, healthcare question here. If premiums are equal and my employer is funding my deductible under HDHP up to the deductively under the PPO plan being offered, then which plan is preferable and why? I read all the materials about both plans but I’m still not really sure which one is better for me - it seems like the difference comes down to co-pays and the HSA. Any advice or insight is welcome.

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I've never worked at another firm.

For those of you in healthcare related account management, what is your healthcare background? I am clinical and getting ready to hire a higher level account manager. I don’t want to miss the right person because of my bias, so im wondering how many healthcare related AMs have healthcare/clinical experience… thanks in advance!

But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?
