ER Doc -

I like to play music during procedures. Usually ask the patient what they want to listen to.

With old lady falls, I usually put on Spotify best of 60s or something and they love it.

Our brains are still engineered as hunter gatherers and designed to present us with the worst case scenario, so that we can better prepare for emergencies, but we’re far more likely to eat the lion and then get attacked by the lion now. We have to try and retrain our brain to give us more relevant expectations and learn to ignore the extreme thoughts or concerns that it sometimes presents.—- there is a book called “dare” by Barry McDonagh that talks about this in much more detail and approaches to combat it.

I think it’s helpful to treat pts as intelligent and be very elaborate in describing what their condition is called, what the treatments are and what course of treatment or recovery can look like. I try to keep it focused on what the patient wants from the visit - this part is hardest to me

Include patients in their care. Let them feel empowered. Arm them with knowledge and evidence. Compassion and willingness to actively listen to patients.

I’m about a month post FET, and after a positive beta I was feeling all of the classic symptoms (like nausea) from like week 5-6. But, this last week the nausea has significantly subsided (though not completely gone). Has this happened to anyone? We have our first ultrasound in a week - so nervous!

I posted this somewhere else before I remembered that I am in this bowl :) so, I changed jobs 6-7 months ago and I am realizing it is not a good fit. Leadership seem to not want to hear the truth so people tell them what they want to hear and if you don’t middle management gets pissed at you. I am seriously thinking about looking somewhere else. My question is how do you answer the “why are you looking to leave” question without bad mouthing your current company?
