Nah people know that harvard extension school has no stringent standards to get in. It’s like getting an online certificate from an ivy and boasting you went there. People in the ‘know’ will know what it is for what it is. A learning annex. If you’re talking online MBA like university of Phoenix then yes it’s better. But if you’re talking Carnegie Mellon, university of Michigan etc then no
I'd highly recommend a look at WGU MBA for anyone searching for a non top tier degree.
What are you trying to do? During a barista interview at Starbucks the manager will probably be impressed you went to Harvards extension school. During any type of conversation with a remotely professional consulting firm this will carry no weight and for many will be a detractor.
100% red flag in my book. What does it say about your ability to research and process information accurately if you decided to go to Harvard extension school?
The people hiring will absolutely care. Look you can trick a few people if that’s your goal maybe from some random small company into thinking you’re a proper Harvard grad. Is that what you want your career to be? Any reputable business school would be better in terms of employment recruitment, hiring events, alumni help etc. try finding published career reports for Harvard extension school. You won’t find it.
I believe an online mba from Kelley or wherever has one offered is still listed as an MBA. either way, it’s more socially acceptable to say you have an MBA even if it’s online or part time than say you went to Harvard for the extension
Terrible idea. People will make fun of you forever like we do with Deloitte.
Even if it isn’t an MBA (it’s a Masters of Liberal Arts in Management). I feel like it offers more value than an MBA from a non selective school. What are your thoughts?
I guess I’m trying to figure out if people hiring will care, all other things considered equal. I know folks who went to other schools for their MBA will care, but if you have a Masters from Harvard and the other person has an MBA from Alabama, who gets the job?
🤔 well there needs to be a story for the Alabama mba, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. Mbb cares less about the mba and prestige and are very happy taking phds. If you can get into Harvard Kennedy school vs idk Alabama MBA, id say go to the former but be ready to have a story.
Doing Harvard Extension School and then saying you went to "Harvard" is trashy
Work hard. Aim for the real thing. Why bother trying to fake being a certain "caliber"?
Both are probably close to useless
From what I heard only Notre Dame people “went to Notre Dame”. Harvard people just “studied in Cambridge".
Actually I think the phrase is that they went to college “just outside Boston”
Harvard carries a lot of value... not as much as Deloitte though. Ooooooooo. Ok im j/k, since people make fun of D all the time
But it's not really Harvard? Just the extension school. Not the same thing. Just like eCornell classes are not from the actual Cornell business department. Save your money and go to real school. Don't be that guy who thinks he went to Harvard.
Everyone knows what extension is
