No noise is usually my go to. Music, tv, podcasts, it’s too hard for me to focus on anything other than that most of the time. White noise kind of, just depends on what it is. Have found this hours long youtube videos of like raining, and that is actually nice.
Pro
Classical with no lyrics. I’ve been using a 3 hour Mozart loop from YouTube forever
TV shows I’ve already seen and know really well (e.g., The Office or New Girl). But I can only do that if I don’t have to concentrate deeply. If I need to really focus I can’t have anything. If it’s just sort of the usual replying to emails, updating checklists, etc, then a TV show I already love helps me focus and be in a better mood.
Great British Bakeoff on Netflix, French stutterhouse music playlists (I can’t speak French so the language+bpm works for me) or really any fidget house music playlists.
Great British Bake Off for me too. There’s just something about that show
1. Spotify playlist titled “EDM Focus Background Beats.
2. Vitamin String Quartet (string covers of well-known rock and pop songs - all the benefit of listening to songs I know, without the lyrics to distract me).
Instrumental pop or ear plugs depending on the task
Classical music if I have to think hard; pop if doing kinda mindless/easy
lofi or Bach piano pieces or other music with simple instruments and no lyrics no melody
NPR.
Pink noise! This gets me in the zone every time for deep thought work. Also recommend brown noise if you need to switch it up.
Cozy cafe music on YouTube!
