I would be more likely to guess that your resume is what is not landing you interviews, not a 2 month job gap. Background checks come AFTER you receive and accept an offer, not as part of the initial interviewing process.

This is technically true but I can guarantee you if you aren’t even landing phone screens it is not because of a 2 month gap.

You’re having issues because the market is not as hot as before. Leverage Fishbowl referrals bowl.

Will do
You can just not update your resume for now. Do same with LinkedIn. That buys a few months. Two months is nothing. It’s the market. Also apply when the listing is new.

Thanks

It’s okay to say you were laid off, you can even put it on your resume! What field are you in/interviewing for? Maybe I can help get you an interview
Feel free to reach out to me too OP.
Things are tough rn - seeing layoffs at many companies. Do as others have recommended, leave your LinkedIn as is, keep applying and find ways to seem active.
Personally, if I hear a candidate was a part of a layoff, I’m immediately empathetic as I’ve been there. I won’t let that impact a hiring decision, but I might keep that candidate in mind or tap into my network if I liked them.
Show that to the people I chatted with recently who were laid off. Point is, it’s coming up more recently than it has i recent memory. Other people posting about it on fishbowl too.

It’s the market. August and September were very active. That shifted this month. Some contact, but mostly contract roles. The last recruiter conversations I had said they were getting a head start on January when interviews would resume for experienced hires.
Still keep searching. I’d leave my LinkedIn as is and keep applying. It’s still a numbers game. Applicants may stop searching as well. Don’t be like them and keep applying.
Lol what just happened in this thread
Always network with people from the same industry or domain irrespective of whether you are searching job or not. LinkedIn is quite useful for this. Reach out to some people and let them know you are looking for a job. Ask if they can refer.
Leave your LinkedIn with your previous employer. Everyone does. When asked why your looking disclose that there was a “reduction in force”. Same as being laid-off. 2 months is nothing. Make sure that you apply for unemployment. Use LinkedIn.
Its your resume not the gap. How much experience did you have before the lay off?

About a year and a half
As long as you are not smoking WEed or not a criminal your backyard check will be fine in America
Background checks make sure you don’t have a criminal history, nor the type of debt that’d cause you to be susceptible to bribes
They don’t give two shits nor an almond joy candy bar that you were laid off
