What exactly is utilization? The percent of time you work and are billing?

It's what you're billing to clients.

In a normal week, number of hours that is client chargeable / 40 hours

Really intern?? You don't know utilization?

Target utilization is less than 40 hours for interns though so don't stress if you are on the low side.

It depends on what firm you are at. EY is chargeable hours over hours available. Whether or not you actually bill for it is not part of the equation.

I think EY divides by 40 as well? I'm just surprised this question is being asked now.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Post 3 months, I apply for a transfer. Transfer process delayed for some process reasons

Recently fired without reason

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.
