I live a hour and fifteen minutes from the airport. Usually get up at 3:00 for a 7:00 AM flight on Mondays, returning Thursday’s. Tried an 8:00 PM flight today arriving after connection at midnight. Delayed until 1:20. So is going to bed at 2:00 and better than getting up at 3:00? 🤷🏼♀️ Leaving Wednesday night though.
Why do you get up 4 hours before your Monday flight? You don’t need to leave for the airport until 4:45 or so, right?
Mine was:
11am flight on Sunday (leave home by 9-9:30am) West coast to east coast.
Monday or Tuesday - at least 1 all nighter.
Monday to Thursday - 13-16 hour days
8pm flight on Thursday. East coast to west coast.
12 hour day Friday and 5-10 hours Saturday work.
Rinse. Repeat.
Needless to say I left.
Quit for more money and zero travel.
5:15 am Mondays and back on the Thursday 7:10pm
6 am Monday, 5:30 pm Thursday
6AM Monday or last flight out Sunday. Thursday is project dependent but typically taking off sometime between 5-7.
OP, how does your team get work done? You lose half of Monday if you leave at 9... and also lose half of Thursday if you leave at 3. Sounds like a sweet gig, but that leaves you only 2 full days to grind.
My mistake, I was reacting to SC1 not OP.
And that’s a good point re: working on the flight. I never work on my 6AM (and that seems to generally be the norm - everyone sleeps).

Thanks all for reminding me why I left consulting... not that I’ve missed it. If you feel down, please look for exit ops! Better pay, better hours, and meaningful work is out there
