So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

From my experience the differences are…
Strategy Engagements:
- Ms are essentially engagement leads, checking deliverables created by Cs. Pretty directly involved. Usually staffed on 1 project at a time.
- SMs are essentially higher level leadership, often with a sales focus. They have their hands dipped in a few engagements at once. More BD expectations. They don’t do as much “hands on” work.
Delivery:
- M lead a work stream and manage the BAs, Devs, etc more directly. They’re in Jira pushing issues around.
- SM lead at a higher level, essentially managing the Ms. They also have a lot of interaction with SteerCos and Execs. They can be pretty hands on but only on critical issues, risks, actions, etc. They don’t do day-to-day dev.
OP - my experience has entirely been at existing client accounts and not with brand new clients. That being said, MDs with established relationships have always been very involved and supportive.
I’ll tag someone else in who has experience with new clients :D
