Tax question for any Accenture people who were part of the layoffs in August...did you see anything weird with state withholding on your W2? I relocated from VA to NJ in early 2020 and my state withholding switched to NJ when I moved. However (and I never noticed this at the time), all of my earnings, including severance, paid out PTO, and COBRA true up, are shown as taxable income in both states. My tax accountant is scratching his head.

I'll be joining the consulting world very soon and am thinking about getting a new personal credit card. My meal expenses are per diem so I'm thinking about the AmEx Gold card as it has 4x points on dining. Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”
Excluding doctors and lawyers, do you think that it is fair to say that working as a consultant is a lot more demanding that many other business jobs? (Billable hours, 24/7 availability, etc..)
