I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

I was told it’s actually Associate. EY Senior Managers would be Engagement Managers but they would be reluctant to bring in someone not from MBB at that level.
We’ve reached a point where we’re valuing more than an MBA but it does depend on role. Generalist is still heavily focused on MBA...but that’s shrinking
Engagement manager would be the analogous title

Associate/senior associate
Associate is the title/level you would go in as (joining this month)
FYI, no real difference on title. Technically always an associate. You just throw in “senior” in discussions when people can trust you a little more
