CPA
If you’re trying to maximize earning you can try to go down the F&PA route. Some F&PA roles don’t even require the cpa and you’ll make more money
This is very true in my org - in all of FP&A at my company (I think we have 300-400 accounting/finance people), I only know less than five other CPAs. My old finance manager, my senior finance manager (who I now report to), my director, and my senior director do not have a CPA - I’m an SFA, by the way. I think of the four finance VPs/Senior Directors (somewhat interchangeable terms here), one is a CFA and CPA. But I don’t think any of the others have a certification/license. One or two may have an MBA, but from no-name schools.
Now, most of the higher ups in our accounting org have their CPA and came from the big 4 (this follows with our CFOs). But I’m the only ex-big 4 I know of in finance, and there’s maybe one or two from public accounting. That’s about it.
dont get the cma, do the cpa, seems like a better roi, best of luck!
If you're trying to do industry..screw CPA..get yourself and MBA and you'll be far more marketable at c-suite/executive positions. Take if from someone that is a CPA.
I was a controller (and CPA) for a large public company (but I was division controller, not corporate). Left to go to a smaller company for better pay/title. You can absolutely try for the dir or VP of finance but most companies want that CPA I bet.
I've thought about the CMA (I'm a CPA). It gets a lot I crap from CPAs, but the IMA seems to have put a lot of effort into revamping the credential - there appears to be a lot of applicable information with it.
I'm having an existential crisis of whether I should stick in industry or go back to public tax - I'm bored and leaving ~$50k on the table by not going back, but it's a steady career here.

Cpa. CMA is a waste of money
that would need to be a top 7 mba
You can go past 15 and still have great programs
