I told my last boss that when I looked at him, I saw an empty chair. That was precipitated by his comment to me that my wife and I should not or we’re not financially able to have children because I hadn’t brought enough work. And they were trying to starve me out into accepting a lowball salary. We toast him every Christmas party now for the last 20 years, when the new people ask, “who is X?“ one of the more senior people says “he’s the jerk who pissed off the boss enough that he open the firm 20 years ago” feel free to direct message me I’ll help you in anyway I can

Any time

Well, I left my prior firm after I discovered what might be termed “billing irregularities.” Fortunately, I had my own client base.

I have a book of business currently but I've been shifted away from my own clients to do work for others, ans it's very frustrating. I feel like one particular senior partner is having me move backwards. I get crap from him for attending educational and networking events, as he just wants me billing.

My direct boss died about a year and a half ago. So now there's really only one senior partner is charge, with no one he listens to that can rein him in.

Which practice group (m&a, capital markets, or funds) would be best for someone who genuinely doesn’t care about this job/law but wants to stay in biglaw (NYC) as long as possible? Some folks say m&a is more “intellectually stimulating” and I wonder, for that reason, perhaps capital markets might suit me?
