traditional. wait for a year with low taxable income (grad school, sabbatical, etc.) to convert to Roth and pay low/no taxes forever!

traditional you DON'T pay taxes initially, just when you withdraw

Fidelity has free transactions with a lot of mainstream ETFs like IVV (s and p tracker.) just get a nice mix of low cost ETFs that cover the entire market + some international. adjust bond fund amount according to risk tolerance and age

like

also Fidelity customer service is dope. good chat and phone support.

like

go traditional. the tax hit will be at your marginal rate. then when you get new job, move the rollover into new 401k

like

thank you all! Also want to move about $73k that's a mix of Roth and 401k from transamerica over to Fidelity. I'm terrible with this stuff. Any pointers on where to put said $?

Hi! I am 4 years into Healthcare Marketing with most of my experience being in design, social media, and content creation. I also do a lot of blog writing and collateral creation. I am currently with a company that is working on a new role for me and I was previously at another company doing more recruitment-oriented marketing. I'd say that now I have quite a bit more I can offer. I am working remotely and love this job. What is a fair salary for the skills and experience that I have?

What do we think is going to happen with student loan deferral? Any recent new grads thinking they’re going to pay back any time soon? Some argue Biden is going to keep pushing interest pause til next election then forgive 10k as a strategy to help get re-elected? How do I get my money from them? It's a few hundred dollars

I am an associate at an AM200 firm and was (IMO) very clear prior to accepting this role that I value work-life balance and wanted to try to keep work at night on the weekends to a minimal, but since February, it seems like it’s always something that requires my time as needed disregarding “business hours” or my personal schedule. Thoughts on whether to bring this up or continue to be a team player until I burn out and pay off my student loans?

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. $530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?

Why would you ever want to rollover your 401K into an IRA? It seems like doing so would essentially prevent you from successfully being able to do a IRA to Backdoor Roth IRA conversion due to the pro-rata rule. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t you always want to just rollover your old 401Ks to your new 401K?

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
