If this is US. Employees are typically at will unless part of a union. Meaning they can let you go same day. Severance pay is pretty standard two weeks and one week for every year after

If you aren’t senior enough to get equity as part of your comp package, then you aren’t senior enough to negotiate a guaranteed severance package.
Rising Star
Non equity employment is "at will." I have never seen the kind of clause you're looking for, but I imagine it could be negotiated if you're some kind of Superstar. Severance is always discretionary in my experience.
In my industry experience, golden parachutes typically happen at higher levels. I know Senior Directors can get one depending on years of service, etc. I’ve not heard of managers getting one except in one really particular instance which I would consider very rare and likely not to happen at any employers today.
Why would I give you a long notice, I should be able to fire someone with a days notice if needed. Don’t want to have you walk away with IP, poach employees etc
60 days at KPMG for directors. Goes both ways, you have to provide 60 days notice if leaving for another job
It won’t be in the contract but in practice, I’ve found that they provide some sort of cushion outside the normal severance pay. Assuming the company isn’t going belly up and you haven’t done anything terrible, they will typically try to move you around first, then they’ll put you a performance improvement plan, and after about six months of trying to get you to improve you’ll be formally let go. Most people find jobs during this period
Thanks Amazon 1. Helpful to think about it this way. Writing would likely be on the wall
Pro
Pretty sure PwC is up to 3 months for a layoff. Manager and above. Based on years of service.
To clarify job level, assume position is 2 levels below partner
To add clarity - my current manager contract has a clause that says they will notify me 2 months in advance. The new offered contract doesn’t have anything and it is at higher level
Consider that extremely rare, I’ve never see that in a US contract
You could negotiate a severance package up front. Especially if you have to sign a non compete.
