I think the advice that has worked best for me in this job is "don't lose your composure under any circumstances", no matter how angry the client is or what they say.
It's easy to get wrapped up in the situation and take things personally, but at the end of the day, it's just a customer who is unhappy for whatever reason. It's important to stay calm and professional, no matter what the customer says or does.
The best piece of advice that I have received when it comes to working as a customer service rep is to always be polite and courteous to the customer. No matter how angry or frustrated the customer may be, it is important to remain calm and professional.
