You have three options.
1) go over the wall.
2) go around the wall.
3) pickup sledge and go through the f***er.
Personally, I found 3 cathartic.
I have applied to a lot of different internal positions, and every time I have to notify my boss. Turns out I have done it enough after missing out on a promotion by being a very close second pick, that they are creating a duplicate in my current area. So I have been hammering away only for someone to go, “okay, maybe you should stay with this team and have another chance to run it.”
Your number 3 maybe school. If your job will pay for it, then take full advantage of it. You may need to find a new job. Just pick a direction that makes sense and start walking that way
I have also applied to many internal positions. I’ve started to network a little more and just keep plugging away.
Also, if you need to, scream cry or exercise :)
