I've said this before, we need to go to cold war footing with China and Russia. They already are with us.
They are not our friends, and everything they do is with the goal of replacing us as the preeminent power in the world.
If we sit around with our head in the sand about this threat we will be woefully unprepared for the next conflict.

1. I support holding China to the same standards as any other country, and taking them on.
2. I am also scared for my 401k.

I don’t think anyone disagrees that China is a geopolitical rival ( along with Russia) . The US foreign policy in principle is positioned to contain them.
But it can’t be done by calling COVID -19 a ‘China’ virus to serve a domestic narrative. Or through the appeasement policy of calling ‘a Xi a great friend and doing great work. Or pissing off the allies instead of forming a coalition.
So I think there are smart people behind the scenes keeping the China and Russia policies sane. We need better messaging from the top ( than just economic ones)
China’s rise as an economic power , improving lives of their citizens and becoming a developed country is bound to happen (same as India, and other big nations, if not today it will happen at some point).
But letting China play a leadership role in world politics is entirely up to the US. The more US bails out of the international coalitions and alliances to serve a domestic agenda, more China gets a chance to propagate its agenda. Think about it. China is investing in modern tech and infrastructure all over the world, while we are trying to shove people back to coal mines. And this attitude of running away from world problems than leading the solution. You don’t like WHO, why not force it to change ? I can go on and on , but you can’t be a superpower and expect to maintain that status by taking a isolationist stance
Trump’s foreign policy approach of pissing off allies is doing no favours in maintaining the US’s position as a global leader.
Completely agree with you about what they’re doing in Africa. Those methods of isolating China would be significantly easier to implement and be more effective when put in place with partners, than just the US. Right now that looks unlikely.
Why do you need to have global authority though?
Russia and China are both big baddies because of the ideology both nations hold regarding freedom and human rights. Unfortunately, our country is under a mound of debt to China, and China is fully aware of that fact. America is already being divided by Marxist ideas to the point where we have fighting in the streets. Don’t even get me started on China’s Belt Road initiative 🙃
SVP1, don’t put words in my mouth. I’m for police reform, but I was speaking to a different point. If you’d honestly like to discuss police reform, we can. Let people finish speaking before assuming horrible things about them
India seems to be making some waves here.

I wish we would quit giving government welfare to the farmers.

This isn't my domain, but I'd imagine much of that is due to climate. It's not that the US can't cheaply produce calories and nutrients, but we import things that are out of season in US or prefer tropical climates.
There's so much fertile agricultural land that is harvested by low wage workers and automated machines that I can't imagine the US finding itself in a situation where they can't grow enough produce.
I'd prefer instead of paying farmers to burn corn, we let the appetites of people determine what farmers grow.
