So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

EY recruiting is such a mess. Applied and did a pre-recorded video interview, heard nothing for like 3 weeks. Then I get a random call saying they liked me and would I be available to attend an interview the following day. I say yes but never receive an email or additional details. Call back the number and it goes to voicemail. The following week I get a rejection email. Just so frustrating EY

I don’t understand. Why is the client asking ? You work for Deloitte, that’s their decision to hire you and vet your qualifications. You also moved to a different service. How/why is the client asking? You weren’t happy in audit and left to move to advisory at another firm. Firms don’t disclose why a person left. (Isn’t a ‘4’ a good rating? Unless things have changed since I was at PWC)
Also - I’m pretty sure PwC could get in serious trouble for disclosing that, although I’m not a legal expert by any means. They usually won’t even confirm roles/duties and just confirm employment and dates.
Agree. All the predecessor firm can do is validate employment dates. Disclosing anything else is a problem that can result in lawsuit
Who says you have to disclose it?
Wtf
Clients check credentials just like employers. They often times ask individuals within their networks about new team members - happens all the time.
That is fucked up. I feel like you should have recourse in that situation. Do you have a copy of your separation agreement? Your old employer probably can't fuck with your new employment like that.
First, I’d never admit to the facts to either the client or DT. Second, I’d find out who at PwC said something and then contact PwC HR and ask them why this info was provided to the client. It’s not acceptable and I would stress that to PwC, but there is no legal cause of action unless someone said something that wasn’t true.
No, you didn’t need to disclose the terms of why you left to your new employer, and regardless of why you left PwC shouldn’t be telling people the reason. They’re only supposed to give dates. If you get fired from Deloitte over this you can probably sue but I’d advise against it. Just speak to your direct supervisor, who you have a personal relationship, not HR. That’s who can resolve this.
Was the pip bc u don’t write gud
Holy crap, your Advisory PPD must be a massive pushover or be pretty hands off with the project. I’m in Deloitte Advisory (commercial) and there’s no way any of my projects PPD’s would ever let a client reach out to former employers to verify employment deets. You’re definitely not obligated to tell anyone you were ever put on a PIP at PwC, in fact I’d never even acknowledge it. Just tell Deloitte and any client that you left PwC because you were looking to make a change from audit to advisory. Case closed
I agree with AS1. You dont have to give details why u left. Old firm only confirms the date of employment n if necessary a very neutral comment. Its part of the agreement u signed when u left pwc. Std agreement to limit any liability.
Why is Deloitte HR trying to decide if they want you to work there after they already hired you? How long have you been working at Deloitte? You’re probably going to be fine if you handle this with professionalism and class. Take a deep breath, and communicate! Try a phone call if you can’t meet in person.
Tell the client that the PwC HR person was mistaken. And there was no agreement That it was not correct. It doesn’t seem to matter if there was or was not an agreement. That has nothing to do with your role now. Such An agreement is not bad, if you ultimately quit and moved to a different firm and service line. I would not stress over it. Why is the client even bringing this up? You’re in advisory now, not audit. Say you did not like audit
Who disclosed the facts of your departure to the client?
Is this for a government clearance?
Huh I cannot read your English OP. So Deloittr messed you up or PwC?
I am so far beyond confused right now. OP: can you please restate your questions and provide us enough background? Please proofread first lol
Lol I’m sorry. I do need to update my iOS. So PwC provided that info to a client for Deloitte. I am not getting a clearance. Apparently I was supposed to disclose to the client that I left because I was put on a PIP. So when they called to verify employment, my HR mentioned that to them
What doesn’t make sense was PwC said there was a “mutual agreement” that I was not a good fit and there was no such agreement. I talked with PwC HR in May, applied to Deloitte in June, put in my two weeks in August (officially) and left
