Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

Offer signed, sealed and delivered.
This. I had a verbal offer and told my manager. It fell through and has been a rocky road since although I think I’ve balanced it decently well

Unless there is a requirement by HR to inform your current manager, keep quiet until the end.

I had an internal offer and they asked before they reached out to my manager so I then told my manager about the position. He then reach out and the offer was eventually canceled due to Covid. It would have been nice if that had happened before my manager was looped in. I ended up in my role with my manager knowing I had interviewed and it was escalated three levels up because they didn’t want me to leave. It’s better keep it quiet in case anything falls though.
I would let your manager know in 1-on-1s that your career goals may move in X direction but I would not mention a direct interview until required.

Your manager will find out. It’s better to tell them beforehand. If you don’t get the internal move and are stuck with the same manager, that relationship will be harmed if you didn’t tell them before.
I agree! I want to consider a role change in 2021 I explained to my manager why that role seems like a good fit and got their opinion on it and the opposing view. Then I asked if serious do you think it makes sense as well for me to talk with a hiring manager to see if they think I am or am not a good fit and why?
After the first interview takes place.
Agreed, especially since this is an internal move I highly doubt there's much benefit in hiding it. Good managers should be open to working with your career goals.
Tell then before they know it from the hiring manager / HR
Till offer in hand. I applied for a role where the hiring manager knew my manager. It has been rocky relationship since then. He has been trying to hire my replacement ever since though it has been almost 4 months.
The moment they know they will plan for what is best for them and their team.
After the first interview. Especially in this market as internal hire is easier than external.
Managers do have your career goal management as part of their goals so internal moves are a positive on their review, but they also need to get your current teams day job done.
In a big enough firm hr loop in your manager at this time and so it is best to be ahead of that news.
Use the conversation to be a discussion on why you are looking for a new challenge and how if it does not work out you can continue to stretch in your current role.
As someone going thru this same exact scenario, this advice is spot on.
Offer in hand, unless you know for sure you don’t want to negotiate further with current employer. Then I would just have it signed and accepted then let them know
Just saw internal; in that case open discussion about your career path and what you’re interested sooner the better
