When people leave PwC how do the firm request you pay back GC fees? Did they withhold your vacation paycheck etc.? Or they request you to pay before they let you go?

When you leave a job do they pay you for the unused PTO?

Applying for jobs currently.. Family wants me to join them on vacation in March for 5 work days. We live across the world and haven't holidayed together in years. Does this plan make sense re:jobhunt?

Serious question: Invited to a Christmas party tonight and the hosts are not vaxxed, nor is their family. They are also not very careful. Do you go or skip? Note: we are going but after reading through some of these posts wondering if we are crazy? My husband just got booster so he should be fine and I am vaxxed (booster not for 2 more months) and we are making our post-college daughter go (not vaxxed, but she does get out and about and so far has been fine, knock on wood).

Are any of you being treated differently by friends and family because you’re taking care of positive and PUI Covid patients? I almost feel like it’s a crime bring an RN right now. No one will come near me. All my family that lives out of state cancelled my summer vacation trips to come see them. The family that lives close by me won’t let me In their houses. I’m feeling so alone and very isolated.

It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.

My manager thinks that because I WFH, I shouldn't be allowed to take sick time. If I do take a day off, she makes such a big deal over it, and makes life miserable for days afterwards. Problem is, I work in HR, so I'm really not sure who to go to, or if there's anything I can even do.

Big law dads (especially junior associates), need some advice. I’m burnt out as hell, have low energy levels, hit a wall with work (haven’t really taken a vacation in 2+ years), and have two young kids. I can’t quit the job to recover because I have five mouths to feed (kids + a parent) and every day feels like a grind due to the burn out. Spouse doesn’t understand why I’m dead, and she complains that I’m not doing enough at home. How do I heal? Quitting isn’t an option, we have no fall back.

Fucking tired of this rat race. Been working for 11 years and just got laid off, CD said they "couldn't give a reason". Been let go a bunch of times, had boring or mean clients, toxic coworkers, underpaid, under utilized, more bad times than good. I love design but being a professional sucks, and if this first decade is how it goes I wont survive the next 20 or 30 years. If you have unlimited PTO, how unlimited is it?

Nanny question - we provide 2 weeks PTO and 5 days sick time per year. If the nanny doesn’t take PTO or sick time, do you pay this as extra? Or do we request that she must use it? Just realized we did not have this specified...

Do industry accountants take vacations that are 2 weeks+? I rarely see my clients go on a long vacation but that’s probably due to the audit cycle so I’m curious. Even on Christmas Break some of them are already sending emails on the 26th.
