Naw, it happens. May not have anything to do with you. Just roll with it and never emotionally invest in a job before an offer.
You haven't followed up since your thank you email? You should definitely follow up immediately and express your continued interest and ask where they are in the hiring process.
You never know what is going behind the closed doors, i once waited for 2 months. They were ready to give me an offer right after the interview, but it needed to be approved by the ECD, who was out on a long shoot followed by a long vacation.
You should reach out to whoever you were working with (HR, recruiter) and ask for an update on next steps
My opinion is that after the interview is over, a thank you email will not make or break the perception that the company has already made about the candidate. And if it does, that seems petty to me. Conversations, manners, and thank yous happened in-person. I don’t feel the need to say it again in an email form when I’ve already expressed myself to them in person. And if they don’t want me to work there because I didn’t send a thank you note, I don’t think that’s the kind of place I want to work at. If they genuinely see that I’d provide value to the company based on the interview, that should be enough.
Completely agree with you, OP. Also have a friend who works in hiring at a well-known agency. I interviewed there on her referral and decided I was not interested after the interview. Dragged my feet on sending a thank you since I didn't actually want the job. Friend said two of the people I interviewed with asked her why I hadn't sent a thank you yet. Ridiculous! Point being, it doesn't surprise me if an agency would hold that against someone, which is petty AF.
I'll go one step further and say you shouldn't invest your emotions into any job even after an offer. In the last few months, I've seen people get offers and start dates, only to watch a client pick up and walk away unexpectedly, leaving the offer either rescinded or altered, usually with a less than stellar alternative. Times are shit right now.
They’re on my blacklist for sure though...
^ Exactly what I came to say!
Also, you sent a thank you a few days after the interview?? I think a thank you email should be sent within 24 hours of the interview.
