San Antonio food and things to do???
PwC A recruiter from PWC reached out to me to ask if I’d consider a different office the one I applied to, since it’s full. It would be Boston, Hartford, Chicago, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Denver, San Francisco or San Jose. MSA candidate. Is there a fully remote option? Do you have to be in the office all the time? Is the compensation high at PWC? Is there a possible moving expenses? Any insight or advice would help me make a decision. Thank you!

SJ or SF. But heard SJ is boring as hell. The Bay Area has been really affected by COVID but Castro is still alive and well.
I just moved to SF from NYC as a single gay man. I bought a car in the end cos it’s impossible to do public transport here if you’re used to buses/subway/ metro trains every 3 mins. They come every 10 mins here and not uncommon for buses to skip stops due to construction 🚧.
That said, if commute time bothers you a lot then SJ is still a big city that is closer to MV. You still still need a car there if you want to run multiple errands within a day.
MV is a fun place to live in too!
SJ is boring. Palo Alto, Menlo Park, or near abouts are way more fun. Also depends on what you like to do. Realistically all these places are 20 min apart so you can live wherever and be wherever in 20 min. I would personally avoid the city - drugs, homeless, crime, cold, fog, hard to park, small old houses at sky high rent. It’s just not worth it to me, but to each his own.
Do you live in Palo Alto or Menlo Park by any chance? I've never heard anyone say they're more fun than SJ - all three are pretty quiet suburbs (aka "boring" to those accustomed to city life)
How far from Caltrain is the MV office? Is that person schedule accommodating enough to only take the express bullet trains?
Thanks for the advice. Sounds like living near the Menlo Park, Palo Alto or Mountain View Calstrain stations might be the best option.
More info: Guy 1 will work 2 miles away from the MTV Caltrain, and there is no employee shuttle, so there is a last mile problem. Guy 2 could work near the Embarcadero Bart station, which is more likely than the office a 10 minute walk from SJ Diridon station. Schedule flexibility is unknown, but they are professional desk jobs, so assume 830am start and 6pm end. We like dining, nightlife and cultural attractions more than outdoorsy things. We are from big northern cities (example: Chicago, not Naperville), so we are not ultra afraid of cold or urban hassles like crime or homeless people.
Any other ideas are welcome!
How about downtown Campbell! Very cute, lots of bars and restaurants and cheaper than Palo Alto and Mountain View.
I lived in San Jose and hated it. Try Menlo Park, Redwood City or Palo Alto.
