Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? My research gives me a mixed review: some say it's good, some say that thoughtworks is not stable enough like big 4 or other organisations. Pls help Thoughtworks Deloitte

NYC for the experience. You are only young once.
I live in Boston. Here are my opinions.
Pros:
- incredibly smart people all over the place and punches above its weight in terms of career opportunities, especially in finance, consulting, healthcare, life science, tech, and education
- beautiful, clean city with many distinct charming neighborhoods. The most European American city
- fantastic public school system
- within 2hrs of premier beach towns, serious hiking, and the great skiing
Cons
- Cold than any of the other cities
- more expensive than all but NYC and SF
- Girls probably not as attractive as more southern cities
- Weaker nightlife than many other cities (although improving every year)

I live in Houston and have also lived 4 years in Boston. Agree with what A1 said about Boston
Houston Pros
- cost of living is well below the other cities. Also, no state/local income taxes
- the food culture is on par with NYC and SF and absolutely crushes Boston
- Airport is good, clean, with lots of destinations in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and South America
- Weather is great for most of the year, except in the dead heat of summer or when we get hurricanes.
- Houston is extremely diverse so you can definitely find your niche
Houston Cons
- Nightlife is ok but not amazing. I’m married so can’t really comment much on the dating/club scene.
- it gets hot!
- Traffic can be rough and you will need a car but traffic isn’t that different from your other cities.
- Flights can be a bit more expensive than other cities as United has a strong hold on the market. NYC and Boston definitely will have better deals due to greater competition in the markets.
- Texas is BIG and Houston is a bit isolated when compared with cities in the NE. Dallas is 4 hours, Austin and San Antonio is 3 hours, New Orleans is 5 hours. Not a terrible thing but just remember you gotta fly almost everywhere.
There are still jobs outside of those industries here. It is harder to find but there definitely is opportunity.
Lived in Boston (6 yrs) and Atlanta (4 yrs). Spent significant time in Dallas
Atlanta gets my vote because:
-I’m from the South, and would love to raise my family there
-I can’t take the cold
-Reasonable COL
-I like the ppl more (entirely subjective)
Dallas has a nice selling point with no state income tax, though.
Downsides are career opportunities in my industry (Boston wins there) and traffic (Atlanta is pretty much one big traffic jam, Dallas is similar)
I don’t care about nightlife though (which a few earlier posts mention), so ymmv
I’ve lived in NJ and currently live in SF. If you can afford it, SF offers mild weather, a great food scene, unmatched access to nature, multiple travel routes to Asia, Oceania, and South America via 3 International airports, and good nightlife.
On the other hand, it’s expensive, foggy, and there’s a big homelessness problem. SF is also more homogenous than other cities.
But with SF you’re not just getting SF, you’re getting the whole Bay Area which is a lot less homogenous
