Depends what city you’re looking at. South Florida market is very different than central Florida.
AA1 is correct. Miami has many more lit boutiques, most of which love clerks. GT has a reputation for loving clerks. If Miami, firms like JD will recruit. Most biglaw lit practices are going to actively seek out clerks. My co-clerks went to wildly different firms (lit boutiques, biglaw, and L&E shops), and some stayed in gov. Clerkship bonuses in FL are going to look more like 25k than the 50k you hear of in other states at the top-paying shops. The midsize/regional firms are paying something more like 5-15k. Not sure anybody will pay 50k for clerkship bonuses outside of Miami. At least I haven’t heard of it.
Coming off a clerkship you have a unique opportunity to vet firms all over again. Like OCI in some ways except you’re entrenched in the market and can be very open about your recruitment and talk to people at all the firms and network to find the best fit for you.
I personally know many clerks in Orlando who went to H&K, foley, and baker. None got a clerkship bonus higher than $10K
