Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Chicago
You could live in the suburbs. There are several here to choose from.
Totally depends on your priorities.
Value: Atlanta
Meeting an S/O: NY (highest population density in the country)
NYC. Best city in the world.
@OP, if you had a family with young kids, I would say Richmond would have provided you the best value for your money with facilities for growing your family. However, being single and no kid changes the whole dynamics. It all depends on what are the priorities right now on your life and when do you intend to undertake the marital plunge and family thereafter!!! Only you know the answer best 😊
Honestly can’t wait to start a family and move back to Richmond
DC
One of my best friends is a single 28M making $130k in Chicago. He absolutely LOVES it there. The walkability, the nightlife, the dating scene, the food, all without being ultra expensive like some of the other big cities. Chicago is also a good area if your long-term goals include having a family. Some of the best public schools in the country are in Chicago suburbs.
Richmond is an awesome place (great breweries and restaurants, hiking / mountain biking, and culture / history all while being incredibly affordable. However it’s tougher if you don’t know many people there. Currently in DC and happy to forgo all that to meet more people. Maybe will move back to Richmond later in life.
Both are way too hot in summer though
I live in Washington DC but considering a change and these are where C1 has offices. I think Atlanta or Dallas might be my initial preferences.
Around 8% bump from what I’ve heard.
What about a single 24M on a $130k salary?
Chicago. Amazing ratio of big city amenities to cost of living. It may be slightly cheaper in Dallas or Atlanta, but those places have fewer amenities, and you need a car vs being car-free in Chicago, which could flip the cost advantage.
If you’re single, leave DC.
Yeah, I got out of a 5 year relationship a few months ago. Seems like everyone here is trying to figure themself out or too preoccupied with work. Hard to find long term comparability here
Chicago is mid IMO
The COL is mid for a reason
