Realistically, consulting folks really are smart. In industry right now and you can definitely tell who has consulting experience and who doesn't. A lot of general skills in consulting translate really well regardless of company/position/industry

3 major things I see:
1) Frameworking and defining the problem-
Many people who don't have consulting experience will dive into the problem and start trying to find solutions. A good consultant will begin by spending time drawing up what the ask is and understanding all the parts of the problem and the downstream impacts.
2) Stakeholder management -
Consultants typically have a better feel on who will ask what types of questions and what their message needs to be on a deliverable in order to satisfy everyone involved. People in industry have this knowledge too, but it typically take years to refine, whereas consultants even with 2-3yoe have managed a lot of different stakeholders in multiple projects
3) honestly my excel skills are better than any one of my peers
What’s the problem? You have consulting experience...
