Why has home insurance in Texas increased so much?

Yes to all the above. But also inflation. Replacement costs for damages (materials, finished goods, etc) like everything has skyrocketed in the last few years. Labor as well but that seems to have moderated.

Deficit fueled spending by the government will keep inflation high. It’s hard to see prices going down but certainly can slow the rise if we the spending stops.

It's all over. My home insurance just renewed, and it's 50% more than last year in MA.

My the premium for my prior insurer jacked the premium from $550 per year to $905 this year just outside of Seattle.

Needless to say, I switched insurance companies and went back down to $550 per year.

Because Texas has been very unprofitable for insurers. Storms, floods, the likelihood of a loss in Texas is higher than most states.

Climate change. More fires, floods, tornadoes.

Time to move back to California
