In all fairness it's not just HR, a lot of my consultant and wanna be consultant connections are pretty 🤮 also
Its an overcorrection, we know the old hiring standards are worthless so everyone is pushing to be seen as the ones embracing a much more effective hiring style

If you think HR is the professional equivalent to a villain - By releasing misleading information they can gain the upper hand by encouraging poor decisions by competing HR professionals.
My actual view- they just want to share a nice uplifting story with an unexpected outcome. To maybe inspire others to apply to a company that takes chances on underdogs.
Just my thoughts, depends on the interactions you have had with HR in the past I guess.

Also, everyone does want to be seen as experts in a way that sets them apart. I know I’m always trying to think of ways to set myself apart from a huge pool of super qualified professionals. Usually the loudest will be seen as more appealing even more so if their methods are seen as innovative. I think it’s 90% appearance in our digital age if not more. So we must adapt or starve.
