Will PA ever save itself by getting rid of billing metrics, relaxing the CPA exam like the legal sector/bar is doing, and stop outsourcing work overseas? We are essentially killing our industry. Who would want to go to an extra year of school and sit for a shitty exam while their peers graduate in four years and will immediately make more money? Then, once they are in the firm they will get constantly berated for not meeting hours and metrics, and are threatened with their job being outsourced?

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). That base salary is lower than my previous base by a significant amount by 32.7%
