Moving from T2 to McKinsey. How do vacation requests work? I have family and friends getting married this fall in weddings delayed because of covid, but I’ll just have started so wanted to get a sense of how realistic taking vacation this fall would be and how to approach taking it (e.g. mention to HR, staffing). For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Renegotiating my contract and curious about maternity leave policies at other practices/hospitals. Do you get paid leave? If so how much time off & are you getting full pay? We are a group of about 75 employees, 6 docs with 5 PA’s and only unpaid 12 weeks off.

Outside of salary, what other things have people negotiated as new hire, I’ve seen more PTO, working from home, sign on bonus, even stock options? How have you negotiated these things especially if you are new to negotiating? Any books or references that gave you a great foundation. The firm I work for is not closing for the hurricane. Staff were told to work from home or take PTO if they could not come in to the office (and the building is now closed until Friday). Is this normal?!

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.

They should really poll the associates to seed ideas for holiday party locations...

Interviewed with MS 2 weeks back for a Sr. PM role and followed up with recruiter today... they say that the team just finished with interviews last week and needs time to make a decision. Is this normal? Does a verbal offer take this long? Or is it just cos they are working on a formal offer?

Sweaty post-workout question. If I finish a bike or run in the heat I am usually just pouring sweat for the next 15 or so mins. So I've gotten into the habit of just putting a towel or yoga mat down on the floor and laying/stretching until I am not going to throw sweat everywhere or step in to the shower and step out still sweating. Is there a better version of this maybe for recovery or even just not wasting time waiting?

COVID 19 crisis should make all states compact for licensing. Precious time was lost while nurses who wanted to work waited for states to pass emergency laws.
