Average raise was probably 3 percent mine was higher. We get a gain share bonus which we hit almost the max this year for allowable. So raises aren't equal to inflation
I would be surprised if the raises for most of us were beyond the low single digits where they've been stuck. Let's be honest, with all the layoffs in the news, most people will probably be happy to be keeping their job as this year grinds on. Scoring a big raise is not a realistic goal for most people.
2-4% annual increase has been the norm for a long time. True comp differential comes from bonuses and promotions.
I felt I did quite a bit last year with my role, plus projects and becoming more visible sharing company events with the team and directors, however I needed time off to recover from a surgery. I got a 3% merit increase and 9% bonus, more or less. My mom always says to feel blessed to have a job, but the merit increase always feel like a little jab.
