Partner couldn’t get you a bump? 10% to listen... Relationships are important. Helps a lot with work satisfaction- being valued and comfortable in a setting. But the 2 people I’d jump for know that $ matters...and it matters to them as well. They’d only come offering if they know I will make them look good/make a difference- and they’d pay the “premium” to get me

All the consulting shops are desperate for people, if you are jumping no, you really should be able to command at least 10% raise, KPMG is notorious for underpaying our people, so you are probably already under market rate

Yes if you are getting sonsorship

I would for the learning opportunities and having a close relationship could help you move up quicker if you do a good job

Just take the job which has better team and partner. $$ won’t matter much if you have a toxic work environment.

Thanks fir the comments so far, also forgot to mention, I am at the SA role

I being provided a 20% signing bonus , but base pay the same. Couldn’t pay premium because hiring based on relationship not my previous experience, risk is on me to prove myself

A good team is 85% of the job. I would take it in a heartbeat.

Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.

Didn't get promoted and the more I think about it, the more upset I become. Had a good year, helped fill in gaps, took on roles to help lead internal initiatives, led/managed teams to success, and worked looonnnggg hours to the point of burnout. Leaders also know how much I was working. I didn't expect a promotion because I had low expectations for my firm, but I'm still pretty bitter. Should I ask why? Was I too naive and ended up giving too much? Or is this a reflection of my work/value?

My off-cycle promotion was announced today as it was getting deferred from last 2 year-end cycles. I was happy with the news and then I was told 3% raise. I am totally shocked and feel rather insulted at the number. Reason- I was already at upper range in the current title! (I know not too much context here) How should I talk to my manager? How much to express? Am I over reacting.
