What is your COL? And how many YOE? This seems grossly underpaid from what I’ve seen (had higher offers at startups at the associate level in strategic finance)
This is MCOL, 5 YOE at EYY
Push for more, seems a little bit low.
Look at it over a 4 year period, a SM2 is making $205k-225k base at EY. In industry, if you start at 115k, and assume 1 10% promotion raise and 4% raises the rest…. You’ll be at $142k…
Also, how the hell are you a new M1 making $115k? I made more than that back in 2016.
I would suggest to push for a higher base. $115k should be around what you’d get as an M1 in FDD at EY. Maybe try for $130k?
Thats good, that means they are flexible a bit. So ask for $130/125 and push for 1.5x (appx. 70k) RSU they are offering you?
Location? Seemed just ok not great offer but not too bad
The key is really how much growth you can expect in future years. If your total compensation is remaining flat for next five years this is then a bad offer
That would be 15k lower than a 3 rated s2 in FDD. Then again, I'm speaking from an HCOL area. Need to evaluate your growth trajectory at the unicorn and what your goal is in 5 to 10 years. The jack-of-all-trades finance role under a strong CFO can be a great learning experience that gets you ready for VP of finance type roles (and ultimately CFO). There are also dead end FP&A roles where you are siloed to one part of the income statement doing monthly budgets. If you're losing on comp, you better be gaining on experience.
I’m making 110k as a new S1 in FDD - HCOL. Wouldn’t surprise me if a high performing S2 was close to 130k.
