Don't get caught up on the title. I just finished recruiting and had offers at manager, sm, and director. Comp and responsibilities were very similar across all titles. Each company has their own approach to titles which shouldn't impact your decision
What are your reasons for leaving now instead of waiting until EOY? Are there any bonuses you would forgo by leaving now? Is there a position open now that you really want? Also, I don't think a week at SC will change your negotiations much. Probably need to be in the role at least 3 months.
There’s an open industry position that I’m pursuing. It wouldn’t involve travel and work life balance seems to be a lot better. I would likely forgo a large bonus loss in late August/September, however my the base salary in this role would be ~15% higher than my upcoming new total comp (Aug/Sept bonus + new level salary), and ~35%+ higher than my estimated upcoming base salary. Trying to figure out if I would be making the right decision, but just worried that another opportunity like this wouldn’t come up for a long time.
I would jump. No question about it. If you go to industry you can always come back if you change your mind
Titles in industry doesn’t say anything - My friend in industry just got promoted to “SM” with fancy ass end to the title. This person has a Bachelors, 2years of experience and get paid ~$80k.
