"care less". In other words, stop getting stressed out over work

like

A similar idea I like for public interest attorneys is that you should never care more than your client. A lot of us kill ourselves to get clients to understand the stakes as we do, but at a certain point, we do need to allow clients to make choices (or defer on choices) that we know are harmful to their interests because the stress of trying to herd them at every moment is unsustainable.

“Remember to take care of yourself first” is the best advice I’ve gotten. It’s helped me to remember to set boundaries at work.

For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?
