Zimmerman Advertising called all the employees that are currently working from home and gave them an ultimatum, either you come back to work full time on Monday or layoffs are going to happen.
All this over phone, so no email or message on the record, what is the point of coming back as of right now? Vaccines are starting to roll out and it will be done in a couple of months?

OSHA should be releasing new rules this week. Also, Zimmerman reps a lot of retail. So I’m assuming a lot of the clients are in offices and def front line. I can see a POV where you’d want to reflect what’s going on with the customer.

Albeit incredible too soon, one most say that advertising will tank unless people get out of their home more. Anyone who survived the 2008-2009 recession knows Ad money is the first to get cut off if companies aren’t selling. Some verticals depend on people commuting, eating out and simply going to work.
Ad money got cut in 2008 and the brands realized they never had to bring budgets back to what they were. Ads have been in a death rattle for a while now.
This sounds healthy.
Omnicom Group is pursuing the new way to work. Operating agencies like Zimmerman should have the same motivation. The more visibility this situation has amongst the industry the more likely a resolution
OMD and The big 3 BBDO, DDB, and TBWA still live in the 80’s-because of Omnicom corporate-non collaborative, non transparent, no synergies-no employee incentives and no rewards-Thus the smaller ones just follow after...Zimmerman matches inherently that culture anyway!-no one feels or tries to create a culture that you belong to the whole group.
