Is there anyone in the client finance/finance space of advertising on here? I’m at a junior level position and have not seen much growth in anyone in my time here. I figured it was time to look around given the apparent market. Is the timeline for growth any different in the finance departments? Any advice in terms of specific agencies or junior level salary expectations?

Appropriate salary for a new media supervisor?? (agency - pharma account)

In a pickle. I finally have two great offers - a really competitive major award-winning agency (A1) vs. an award-winning yet more work-life balanced agency (A2). Both have the same compensation offer. Agency 2’s CCO is offering me the chance to work with him and a brand that’s on my bucket list so I signed their offer yesterday. A1’s CCO heard from their HR and reached out to me today, told me that he’d mentor and work w/ me. He wants me to reconsider, join them, make a mark there. Thoughts?

Should I speak up and tell someone that our pay is way below competitive? People aren’t telling HR they’re leaving because of salary in exit interviews, but it’s the main reason.

What do you consider a high salary given your location?

How would advertising creative change if a large chunk agency revenue was tied directly to client results? This could even filter down to individual creatives, where they get 50% of their base salary guaranteed. From there they could get anywhere from 0% to 300% of their salary based on client sales results.

Do you negotiate salary every time? Even if you know the offer is already good?

People keep reaching out to me about roles, but when I ask about salary it’s way lower than what I’m looking for. Feels like I’m getting gaslit but I think as an AD in NYC with 5 years (4 in agency and 1 in-house) I should make 120-130k and be able to have a Senior title. That’s how much other people have told me. Is that wrong? Am I asking for too much?

Do art and copy always make the same salary?

Interviewing for an AMD position offering $30k more than I’m currently making (at the low end of the salary range provided). I like my team a lot but it’s hard to not feel resentful of the lower pay when I’ve been doing the work of multiple people during staffing shortages.

If I get an offer, it’ll be hard to turn down but wondering if anyone went after money/quick promotion and regretted it?

I’m a junior who landed their first perm gig last Fall. Ever since, recruiters have been coming to my partner and I left and right, offering us a salary 4k-6k gbp more than what we’re currently earning. We gave our employer a very low range when we were getting hired (just to make sure hiring us is no bother to their post-covid financial issues), but now we’re starting to feel like we made a mistake...

Anyone make the jump to Amazon account manager? Or anyone body know the total comp and structure? Trying to see if I should go down the interview path

Hirers- PLEASE just post the salary range upfront in a job listing. Make it wide if it helps protect you. But indicate something. It will set the whole interaction in a more transparent manner from our side too. Thank you!!!

Just found out my entire team was able to negotiate salary when coming into the new job and I wasn’t because I was a transfer and not a new hire.

I have the same experience level as them and I’m paid about $30k less. I need help.

What’s the current salary for a very experienced senior writer. I feel like I was hired at the top of my range a few years back and have only seen a couple of measly 2-3% adjustments and no real raises. While no one is irreplaceable, I’m really the only writer on the account who knows the business and clients. Is it reasonable for me to be making $135 to $140k as a senior writer? At this point in my career, I’m not interested in being an ACD. I just like writing.

Interviewing for a new role. Ideally I’d like the senior title, but the place I just interviewed at (even though the description is 5+ years and would pay sr. Salary) would have the copywriter role. Does the title even matter honestly?

Is there any expectation for agencies to somehow address rising inflation and gas prices in their employees’ compensation? Doesn’t seem like something that is the agency’s responsibility, but at the same time it sounds like a discussion to be had at least.

For people that work at an agency-
Is it normal when a campaign overspends to take that money out of the bonus pool?

It feels kind of fishy given that most accounts are underscoped and overworked in this industry to the extent that turnover is expected and it’s part of business model.

Am I dumb for rejecting a marketing role (not what I wanted to do responsibilities wise) at BCGDV (Boston Consulting Group) & instead moving into another agency for a role that fit my goals? TBF, BCGDV was lowballing me like crazy & refused to budge on salary, whereas agency instantly met my desired salary.

Stay at big agency with great jobs but low salary or move to less great agency with decent pay? How long should I still hold on? When’s the right time to jump?
